Isaiah's Call, Part VI: Familiar Spirits

Isaiah's Call, Part VI: Familiar Spirits Pastor Logan J. Fowler (9-15-19)

Isaiah 8:19-20 "And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."

The biggest way to tell that someone is filled with a familiar spirit and not God’s spirit? They speak not according to God’s word.

Other signs of demon possession can include:
1. Is. 8:19-20 – They peep, mutter (use another voice, tongue). They speak in tongues.
2. Acts 13:6-12 – They seek to turn people away from the faith.
3. Acts 16:16-18 – They falsely praise God and grieve Christians greatly.
4. I Tim. 4:1-3 – They forbid to marry as the Catholic church does.
5. I Tim. 4:3-4 – They command to abstain from meets as the Adventists, Hindus, Catholics, etc.
6. Luke 8:26-28 – They’re naked or see no problem with nakedness or other sensual sins.
7. Luke 11:24-28 – Their religion is self-reformation and self-improvement. (AA, humanist)
8. Luke 11:29-32 – They emphasize signs (healings, tongues, visions, miracles), not preaching
9. II Cor. 11:13-15 – They just look good. Eloquence, a great smile, and personality.
10. I John 4:1-6 – They deny who Christ is (deity, savior), yet the world loves them.

Eph. 6:11-12 “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

2 Cor. 4:4 “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
