People Smuggling in Europe: The Deadly Routes and Risks | ABC News

So far this year, there have been over 2,500 migrant deaths recorded worldwide.

And the 39 people found dead in a truck in an industrial park in England, adds to that number.

The ABC’s Chief Foreign correspondent, Philip Williams, has been covering the ongoing story of the plight of migrants, for 20 years.

He explains that this latest incident, although tragic, is not the first, or even the worst case in the UK or Europe.
