U.K. lawmakers convened in the House of Commons on Oct. 29 as Prime Minister Boris Johnson attempts a fresh bid for December election to break the Brexit deadlock. The new bill will need a simple majority in parliament to carry. Lawmakers in the House of Commons voted 438-20 in favour of holding a national election on Dec. 12. The law will now be passed to parliament's upper house for consideration.
