U.K. MPs vote in favour of December election in PM Johnson's 2nd attempt to break Brexit deadlock

U.K. lawmakers convened in the House of Commons on Oct. 29 as Prime Minister Boris Johnson attempts a fresh bid for December election to break the Brexit deadlock. The new bill will need a simple majority in parliament to carry.

Lawmakers in the House of Commons voted 438-20 in favour of holding a national election on Dec. 12. The law will now be passed to parliament's upper house for consideration.
