Megacra Leather Wooden Humidor Unboxing & Review: An Affordable Pick

The 25-50 count figure specified for this humidor is somewhat reasonable, as it allows for different vitola sizes. This Chinese-made humidor is on Amazon for around $60 USD, so it's interesting to see what value for money it provides.

The leather exterior finish is quite nice, with "Megacra" embossed on the back. Inside, in the middle of the lid is a metal plate intended for magnetically-attached humidification devices. You get one shelf with one included divider.

The seal seems reasonable for a wooden humidor. Overall, the humidor is quite light with a hollow sound when tapping the bottom. Our first impression is that this product is similar to the Quality Importers humidors we also reviewed.

Regarding humidification, you get a gel humidifier and an analog hygrometer, which are essentially paperweights. As you may know, we at Bespoke Unit prefer Boveda humidification alongside calibratable smart hygrometers. These allow you to store your cigars with a great degree of ease and reliability.

The included instructions say to calibrate the hygrometer with a hot, damp towel but, again, we wouldn't trust an analog hygrometer. Check out the links for our digital hygrometer picks and how to calibrate them. Save the warm towels for your face at the spa!

Although the metal mounting plate in the lid isn't overly attractive, it's functional and a nice inclusion.

Overall, we're impressed with the value this provides as a wooden humidor at this price point. However, at this price range, you might be better off just making a really good airtight tupperdor.

With something like that, if you want the benefit of cedar aroma, you can simply use a cedar veneer insert. We're also approaching the range of some really good acrylic humidors.

In general, if you're looking for value in storage quality, large airtights are the way to go. Paul's collection is around 1200 sticks, with the majority in 87 quart airtight containers.

The Megacra looks nice and is a decent gift idea. However, at this price point, an airtight makes more sense. Meanwhile, if you want a really attractive wooden humidor, going for a higher price range makes more sense.

REMEMBER to comment! We'd love to hear your thoughts on this particular humidor or others you'd like to see on Bespoke Unit!

Yours,

The Bespoke Unit Team
