Yemen|Riyadh agreement teeters as a result of its parties hiding behind their interests

The failure of implementing the terms of the Riyadh agreement effectively in Yemen has raised popular and political concerns about a return of tension in areas that have experienced relative tranquility over the past period based on the agreement, observers said that one of the most important provisions of the agreement signed under Saudi auspices between the legitimate government and the Southern Transitional Council and was not implemented was to appoint a governor and a security director in Aden, as well as the establishment of a committee to study the living conditions of citizens in those areas.

أثار عدم البدء بتنفيذ بنود اتفاق الرياض بشكل فاعل في اليمن مخاوف شعبية وسياسية من عودة التوتر للمناطق التي شهدت هدوء نسبيا خلال الفترة الماضية بناء على الاتفاق. وبين مراقبون أن من أهم بنود الاتفاق الذي تم توقيعه برعاية سعودية بين الحكومة الشرعية والمجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي هي عدم تعيين محافظ ومدير أمن في مدينة عدن، وكذلك لم يتم تشكيل اللجنة المختصة بدراسة الأوضاع المعيشية للمواطنين في تلك المناطق.
