Abandoned Alaska 5-year-old carries toddler half-mile away to neighbor’s house in frigid temps after

(Getty Images) A 5-year-old boy left home alone in a remote Alaskan village carried a toddler nearly a half-mile through freezing sub-zero temperatures to a neighbor’s house while wearing just a pair of socks and light clothes.  Alaska state troopers said the child became frightened after the power suddenly went out at his home in Venetie on Tuesday. Advertisement  Without an adult to provide comfort, the 5-year-old opted to carry the 18-month-old with him to the nearest residence and brave the bitter temperatures, which dipped to 31 degrees below zero that night.  When the children arrived at the home, a community member called state troopers, who chartered an airplane to reach the remote village — located about 155 miles north of Fairbanks.
