Automobile sales in India witnessed their sharpest decline in nearly 19 years in July 2019, dropping 18.71%, rendering almost 15,000 workers jobless over the past quarter. According to the latest government data, the July to September sales over the past year has declined by 17 percent. The effect is not only on passenger cars but also on two-wheelers, tractors and other segments. The automobile sector is closely related to core sectors such as iron and steel and employs about 37 million directly or indirectly.
