Tuesday Tip: Permits

Tuesday Tip: Permits Tuesday Tip: Permits

Are you a homeowner looking to do renovations? Do you know that you will need permits from the city if you are doing things like plumbing, electrical, window replacements, or other projects?

If you are in the City of Pasadena, you will need to make a trip to the Pasadena Permit Center to get started. Expect to state your project description to the receptionist, who will suggest the correct application to fill out and direct you to the appropriate counter. If your project meets over-the-counter thresholds, you will present your documents/plans to various departments and divisions, whom will review the material you have presented at the counter. Depending on the complexity of your project and the completeness of your plans and adherence to codes, the Plans Examiner and/or Planner may be able to process your permit over-the-counter. If your plans are more complex, you will need to submit them for a behind-the-counter review. If your plans are approved over-the-counter, you will be directed to the permit processing counter where staff will process your permit application, collect the permit fees due, and issue your permit.

Go to City of Pasadena's Permit website for a fee schedule and required documents.
