Visit Womble Bond Dickinson's Brexit Hub:
Transcript:
There have already been some impacts on the flow of talent and on the flow of employees whether it executive or other levels within businesses because there has been considerable uncertainty about whether any form of freedom of movement would continue after Brexit. Looking at the election manifestos that have just been published, it looks as though neither of the main parties conservative or labor have any strong commitment to continuing freedom of movement. So with that development and with the election result after 12th of December, we may well see further concerns about the ability to move employees within and around Europe. To meet that, businesses seem to be taking the step of setting up functions within the European Union 27 so that they can essentially continue with business as usual as far as possible. And in that centers like Dublin are proving particularly significant because Dublin shares a lot of the attributes of London in terms of similarity of language, similarity of culture and ease of doing business. So we may yet see much more of a flow between the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
