This video is a follow up to my lecture explaining diffraction and Huygens's Principle. If you don't know what those are you should watch that lecture first: In this video I use the Minecraft water blocks to demonstrate why Huygens's Principle shows us how diffraction will occur when a wave encounters a boundary. Minecraft water obeys Huygens's Principle because each individual water block behaves as a center of disturbance where water (waves in H's principle) radiates outward in all directions. If we line up the centers of disturbance, we get a single wavefront moving in a single definite direction.
