Since making his debut with Pataas, Anil Ravipudi has been on a roll, delivering hit after hit with Supreme, Raja The Great and F2: Fun and Frustration. The young director is confident that his next, Sarileru Neekevvaru will be the fifth consecutive hit of his career. “The film will be like the perfect pandaga bhojanam filled with patriotism, emotions, values and entertainment. The healthy and rib-tickling comedy, in particular, is inspired by Jandhyala garu, I am like his Ekalavya sishyudu,” says Anil, beaming. Expectations from the film are high, given that the film boasts of an ensemble cast featuring the likes of Vijayashanthi, Prakash Raj and Rashmika Mandanna. That’s not all. Mahesh’s dad, Superstar Krishna too is playing a cameo in the film. “Krishna garu’s cameo will be a surprise that needs to be seen onscreen. I can assure you it’ll be worth waiting for,” he says, excitedly.
Mahesh’s performance as Major Ajay Krishna is going to be the highlight of the film says Anil. “Mahesh garu is an incredible performer and the audience will get to see him in full flow. Whether it’s comedy, drama or action, he’s done everything and more. Mahesh garu also danced in the film, something which he hasn’t done much in his recent films. His performance will light up this Sankranthi,” says Anil. The experience of working with Mahesh is he’ll cherish forever, says Anil. “I have so many memorable experiences with him. I try to stay positive and have this habit of eating to control my anger instead of speaking out loud. Mahesh garu noticed that and would often pull my leg about it. The dubbing for the film was done at his home studio, so every evening we would gorge on delicious food that he would arrange for us. He went above and beyond just doing his work and that’s something I’ll never forget,”
