Top Gear: 'I'm not bothered' Paddy McGuinness hits out at Jeremy Clarkson

Top Gear: 'I'm not bothered' Paddy McGuinness hits out at Jeremy Clarkson Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff joined Chris Harris earlier this year to form the new Top Gear presenting line-up and the trio are back for a Christmas special which will air on BBC Two tomorrow. Ever since original hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May left the show, outspoken Jeremy has taken light-hearted digs at his former show while he filmed Amazon’s The Grand Tour. Ahead of Top Gear’s Christmas special, the hosts gave their thoughts on their predecessor’s comments.  Earlier this year, The Grand Tour hosts were visibly emotional during the final episode of season three as they revealed they would not be returning to the studio tent. Instead the trio would return for a series of road trip specials with the first one being released earlier this month. The episode saw Jeremy, Richard and James take on Cambodia and Vietnam in nothing but boats. When they found themselves in some particularly rough waters, Richard announced it was the “worst thing I’ve ever done". And on that terrible disappointment for Top Gear… it’s time to say goodbye.” Despite Jeremy’s light-hearted swipes, he’s admitted he wishes the Top Gear hosts “the best” but won’t be watching any of the new series. Speaking at the launch of The Grand Tour earlier this year, Jeremy explained: “I wish them all the very best but I don’t watch it. “It was my baby and then it got taken away and they’ve got it now.  “It’s like it you’ve got a baby and it’s put up for adoption you hope the baby’s brought up very well.” Speaking to press including Express.co.uk, Paddy, Freddie and Chris were asked if they had any words for Jeremy following his Top Gear swipes. Paddy answered: “Listen, Jeremy and the lads they made that show what it was and if it weren't for that we wouldn't be sitting here talking to you.” “So I think it's all good natured,” he continued. “I hope it is any how.”  “I’m not too bothered, are you?” he asked co-stars Freddie and Chris. “No and we’ve got another series and they haven’t,” Chris joked. “They’re brilliant in what they do, and they’ve created this whole genre, haven't they?” he added. Meanwhile, Paddy revealed how pleased he was with the excellent reception Top Gear received following its latest presenter shake-up.
