S12C SETTING INTRODUCTION:
Long ago, before time and existence, there was only light and darkness. The power of light was controlled by the great phoenix goddess Desanora, while the power of darkness was controlled by the evil shadow god known as Kyentye. At the edge of light and darkness our universe was created. With the coming of this new existence also came a struggle. The great phoenix and shadow god did not want to share power, so a war waged between the two. In the end, light and darkness collided creating a great rift between them that stretched through time & space. The collision destroyed the two, shattering their spirits and turning their essence into crystal. Six crystals, each containing a part of the goddess’s essence, fell from the sky: life, peace, courage, spirit, hope/destiny, and love. Six crystals came from the dark shadow god as well: death, destruction, fear, pain, time, and hate. The power of these crystal fragments created two worlds separated by a great rift: The Realm of Light and The Shadow Realm. Now, scattered throughout the land of Dovencrest these crystals lay dormant, protected by powerful dragon spirits, waiting to be reunited...
It has been 60,000 years since the war between light and darkness. Many think that the legend of the 12 crystals is only a myth, yet the great continent of Dovencrest is filled with those who still seek these crystals and would use them for good and some for evil. In order for Dovencrest to survive, these crystals must not get into the wrong hands. As the legends say, if one was to unite all crystals, they would have limitless power and control over both realms.
CAMPAIGN INTRODUCTION:
You are a band of adventurers who have recently been recruited to the Dunn stronghold, White Hill located at the great rift. There is much work to be done here and the wages are top notch. You have been hired to help with the forces that might try to break through. Until the walls are completed the Realm of Light (as they are now calling it) will need abled bodies to help protect it from invaders that may come from the Shadow Realm (they are calling the place beyond the great rift). Word has it that it has been quiet and should be an easy job assuming it stays that way, but you feel that there may be more to this than what the rumors lead on. Little do you know that from the moment you arrive things are indeed not as they appear. What lies in store for our heroes at White Hill? What has caused this opening in the rift? Only time will tell…
