It’s officially time to move on from the warmth and tropical weather of Jamaica to the deep winter and cold Lithuania! We wanted to kick things off with our first ever TV appearance on LNK TV at a show called KK2 Penktadienis. It’s similar to any talk show, like Ellen, Oprah or Wendy, but this show has 3 hosts and several participants. The topic was the relationship between Lithuania and immigration, both in terms of Lithuanians moving abroad as expats, coming back home (sometimes with foreign wives and husbands), or foreigners moving to Lithuania and learning the local language.
Avri conducted some questions only in Lithuanian, so we are all very proud of her! She even sang her favorite Lithuanian song by Moniqué “Nenoriu grįžt namo”!
There were guests from all over the place at the show: Turkey, Bali/Indonesia, Kazakhstan, people that traveled all over the world (Peru, Argentina, Chile, China, Russia, Kenya, etc).
Although we didn’t do a lot of talking or participating, it was still a great experience to actually be on TV and not worry about editing the video after we finished! We got to meet some awesome people, see some cool singers (Ingrida Toleikyte and Ieva Norkute), heard some really interesting stories about life abroad and back in Lithuania, and finally, share our own story: how we met, cultural differences, food, impressions of Lithuania and so much more. Avri got to try some fried bread (kepta duona) and cepelinai! All in all, a very different and exciting experience 🙂 the guy from Bali was cutting ice and making sculptures, Turkish guy is a travel agent, the Lithuanian couple are world travelers, the guy next to Avri is a former member of Seimas (Lithuanian parliament) who now works in Kazakhstan and the guy next to Simas is an actor who moved to Bali, Indonesia.
We are so happy and humbled to be able to share our story to a mainstream audience. Immigration is at the core of everything we are since we both migrated from Lithuania and Jamaica to the US, so it's very exciting for us to come on national TV.
