You don't need a vise on the Joiner's Bench Vises are useful for woodwork, but you can do EVERY woodworking operation without a vise.

For the barrel-nuts and the screws, they were cheaper and available in smaller quantities at the big-box or hardware store. I used these barrel nuts: but you can only buy a 10-pack, which is ridiculous for this project.
