Johnny Mercer remarked that at the first screening of the movie, one of the producers was overheard to say, “I don’t know about the picture, but that song sure has to go!” “Moon River” went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song and 1962 GRAMMY Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
