Contested Bones 109 YEC alternative model for human origins & O’Leary’s Precambrian “Green Plants”

Contested Bones 109 YEC alternative model for human origins & O’Leary’s Precambrian “Green Plants” Evolution Hour 136 shows that what Rupe & Sanford have in mind for an “alternative model” for human origins is their standard creationism. But what is (as usual) missing is any criteria for their ACCEPTING evolutionary relationships. Never do they explain what a hominid would need to look like to satisfy them. They cycled some of the same sources and talking points, and added another secondary source, Colin Barras 2017

They also cite Sanford’s Genetic Entropy book again to repeat the false claim that humans are “genetically degenerating”.

They again lob Prufer 2014 on Altai neanderthal’s genome only for its being inbred. Never mind all the info in it that doesn’t fit their model, especially the time scale and the genomes of Neanderthals lying outside the human species range to begin with.

We’ll also bring you up to date on “The Rocks Were There” (which is now out for purchase).

Part 2, on 24 Feb Denyse O’Leary tweeted: “Green plants discovered in China dated at a billion years ago It’s not ‘land’ vs. ‘sea’ that’s really significant here. It’s how much time was available for the development of photosynthesis.” Linking to:

Which lead to secondary coverage

Which finally led to a newly published paper that is not open access, but we’ll cover the gist in the show.

Matt Herron also commented on O'Leary spoiler alert: the new finds are not disconcerting to evolutionists.

Big relevance of the work is that they are multicellular, and put the green seaweeds back as far as the red seaweed. Green seaweed chlorophyta include Volvox, which is at the core of multicellularity evolution. As for TIME, cyanobacteria, the core drivers of photosynthesis, had been in play for 1.5 billion years prior to these rudimentary seaweeds. Did O’Leary know so little of the subject that she thought this was somehow a snag for evolution?

I’m doing my part on the science defense front, having written THE coverage of how antievolutionists ignore the reptile-mammal transition macroevolution evidence Paleontologist Christine Janis described ESD in her Amazon review as “an incredible tour de force” (makes a nifty holiday gift, for your science-loving friends too!)

And now the new with Jackson Wheat puts the Source Methods scalpel to use carving YEC to pieces.

Source Methods works as a debate approach of course, catch my joust with Kent Hovind and let me know how you think it went for the creationist.
