Francesc AdelantadoSamuel Umtiti's immaculate first two campaigns at Barcelona seem a distant memory as his persistent injury problems since the summer of 2018 have proven to be a constant headache. The Frenchman made 50 LaLiga Santander appearances in his opening two seasons with the club, and such were his performances that Barcelona fans were confident that they had found Carles Puyol's long-term replacement. However, Umtiti has been suffering constant problem in his left knee that for over 12 months which are linked to an operation he underwent at 17 years of age on the same part of the leg that is currently troubling the centre-back. The operation he had as a teenager appeared to resolve the issue in the short-term but after several years playing professional football, it appears to be taking a toll on the centre-back.
