While the first vehicle built using the all-electric architecture is getting ready for launch, work to optimise the combustion engines is in full swing. The reason being that, in addition to the all-electric models, Volkswagen will continue to offer petrol and diesel engines along with hybrid vehicles in the coming years in order to cater for the full range of customer requirements.The new exhaust gas treatment process known as twin dosing represents a major step towards cleaner diesel engines. The twin dosing process has been used in the Passat 2.0 TDI since 2019 and can also be found in the new Golf. For twin dosing, Volkswagen uses not one, but two Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems.
